Phase 1 Desk Studies and Site Walkovers

Phase I investigation or preliminary risk assessment (Desk Study) generally comprises:

• Site Walkover to identify current and recent contamination sources
• A review of the historical land use to identify previously potentially contaminative sources
• A review of the wider setting to include geology, hydrogeology, surrounding industry and all other areas of potential concern; plus
• A report summarising the collated information through the development of an initial Conceptual Site Model (CSM). This will identify any potential receptors and detail any potentially polluting pathways. Focusing the report around the source-pathway-receptor format will help you determine the scope of any further investigations that may be required.

Phase I investigations are normally completed within two to three weeks of receiving a commission. The cost depends upon the size and complexity of the site and start from £800.00 excluding VAT
